SEGA today expanded Sonic Racing CrossWorlds with a free character update tied to the NiGHTS franchise.
Why it matters: It expanded the game's roster and music selection at no cost to players.
- And most importantly, it's NiGHTS.
What's new: The drop includes NiGHTS as a playable racer, the Dream Sleeper vehicle, and five music tracks.
- A limited-time 'NiGHTS Festival' runs 25 to 28 Dec 2025, letting players earn points to unlock exclusive items, emotes, and sounds.
- The update is free for all Standard and Digital Deluxe owners with the latest game version installed.

SEGA announced the free NiGHTS content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available for players starting this Wednesday, Dec. 24 at 4:00 PM PT! Players will be able to race alongside Sonic and friends as the beloved Nightmaren, NiGHTS! The free NiGHTS Content Drop includes the following:

NiGHTS Festival
To celebrate the official release of NiGHTS, we’ll be holding the NiGHTS Festival this weekend.
- December 25, 2025 (Th) 7:00 PM ET to December 28, 2025 (Sun) 6:59 PM ET
- Earn Festival Points during the event to unlock exclusive items, emotes, and sounds.
Players who own either the Standard (physical or digital) or Digital Deluxe versions of the game will automatically receive the free NiGHTS Content Drop. Please ensure that the game is updated to the latest version for the content to be downloaded properly.
